DeLong named to provost's list at Capital University

Capital University is pleased to announce Rebecca DeLong of South Bloomfield was named to the provost's list for the fall 2016 semester.

To be named to the provost's list, full-time, degree-seeking students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.70.

Capital University is pleased to announce its dean's list honorees for fall 2016 semester.

The list includes Cory Heeter of Circleville, Jessica Litz of Circleville and Mackenzie McKnight of Orient.

In order to be named to the dean's list, full-time, degree-seeking students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5.


Capital names president's list honorees

Capital University is pleased to announce its president's list honorees for the fall 2016 semester.

The list includes Tatiana Boldrin, Erin Debo, Kayla Fowler, Katharine Gerchy, Allison Hardin and Taylor Humphrey of Ashville; Jacquilyn Richardson of Circleville; Johnathon Finney of Commercial Point; Amanda O'Brien of Orient; and Heather Barr of Williamsport.

The president's list indicates the highest level of academic distinction. To be named to the president's list, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.85.


Jordan honored by University of Alabama

Logan A Jordan of Orient was named to The University of Alabama's president's list.

A total of 11,758 students enrolled during the 2016 fall semester at UA were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

The UA dean's and president's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.


Chipps earns scholarship at University of Findlay

Hannah Chipps of Orient recently was awarded the Western Equestrian Operating Scholarship, an endowed scholarship at the University of Findlay for the 2016-2017 academic year.


Heidelberg University announces fall semeter dean's list

More than 350 Heidelberg University students who have excelled in the classroom have been named to the fall semester dean's list, according to Provost Dr. Beth Schwartz.

Local/area students on the dean's list include Dorothy Faris of Circleville, a senior majoring in Education; Travis Hedge of Ashville, a senior majoring in Computer Science; and Brianne Tufts of Circleville, a freshman majoring in English.


Students named to Trailblazer Academy dean's list at Ohio Christian University

Students taking College Credit Plus courses through OCU's Trailblazer Academy have been named to the dean's list at Ohio Christian University for the fall 2016 semester.

To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours.

Local students receiving dean's list honors are Morgan Williams of Ashville; Nicholas Mascari and Sarah Taylor of Circleville; Maria Shappert of Commercial Point; and Gabrielle Yates of Orient.

The following local students were named to the residential undergraduate program dean's list at Ohio Christian University for the fall 2016 semester.

Youngstown State announces president's list honorees

Youngstown State University's most outstanding students have been named to the YSU president's list. To qualify, students must have earned a 4.0 grade point average in the fall 2016 semester.

President's list honorees include Laine Bulmer of Circleville, a YSU Early Childhood Education major; and Corie Hoselton of Circleville, a YSU Middle Childhood Education Language Arts major.

Bulmer and Hoselton also were named to the university's dean's list for the fall 2016 semester.


Students make dean's list at Miami University

Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average for first semester 2016-2017 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

Local students named to the list include Sydnee Roese and Caleb Wright of Ashville; and Alan Kocher and Anne Cunagin of Circleville.


Pheneger named to Miami University president's list

Morgan Pheneger of Circleville was named to the Miami University fall 2016 president's list.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for for semester 2016-17 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

Pheneger is earning a Bachelor of Science majoring in Early Childhood Education.


Students named to Ashland University dean's list

The following area students were named to Ashland University's dean's list for the fall 2016 semester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled full time at Ashland University and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Baylee Kuhlwein of Ashville is majoring in exercise science. Kuhlwein is a 2016 graduate of Teays Valley High School.
Tiffany Smolinski of Circleville is majoring in Spanish and French. Smolinski is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.
Rachel Traverse of Circleville is majoring in fashion merchandise and marketing. Traverse is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.


Dickson named to University of Dayton dean's list

Circleville resident Molly Dickson earned a spot on the University of Dayton's fall 2016 dean's list, which honors undergraduate students achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA for the semester.


Capehart names to Kent State dean's list

Donavan Capehart, a senior studying business management within the College of Business Administration, was named to the fall 2016 dean's list.

Capehart is among more than 8700 undergraduate students who have earned and received this recent academic recognition.

To qualify for this honor, undergraduate students must obtain a 3.400 GPA or higher while maintaining 12 or more credit hours in a semester. Part time undergraduate students must obtain a 3.400 or higher GPA while maintaining 12 or more credit hours over the course of the fall, spring, and summer sessions.


Caldwell earns degree from University of Dayton

Leah Caldwell of Orient is among the more than 300 undergraduates receiving degrees from the University of Dayton during the 2016 winter commencement ceremony.


Kuhlwein named member of exercise science club at Ashland University

Baylee Kuhlwein of Ashville is a member of the Exercise Science Club at Ashland University.

Kuhlwein is majoring in exercise science and is a 2016 graduate of Teays Valley High School.

The Exercise Science Club is an active and chartered club offered to any student majoring in exercise science, as well as non-majors interested in the topic.

In fall 2015, incoming exercise science majors had the opportunity to experience the new Mentorship Program, which paired upper class exercise science majors with those in the incoming freshman class.

In addition to this program, members of this organization participate in annual fitness testing in the Ashland County School District, plan the AU Fit Fest, and work at AU health fairs.


Smolinski named member of Ashland University French club

Tiffany Smolinski of Circleville is a member of the French Club at Ashland University.

Smolinski is majoring in Spanish and is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.

The French Club thrives to promote enthusiasm among students for the French language and culture and to provide students with a friendly but serious way to approach a new language. Students are encouraged to stay in touch with anecdotes or newly acquired cultural insight.

For French majors, the club provides a source of guidance and an opportunity to actually use and experience what is learned in class while developing communication with other students and faculty in their area of study.


Traverse named member of public relations organization at Ashland University

Rachel Traverse of Circleville is a member of Ashland University's Accent on Public Relations organization.

Traverse is majoring in fashion merchandising and is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.

Accent on PR is a student-run public relations organization. The purpose of the organization is to implement available resources to enhance clients' images by using strategic planning, innovative thinking and fresh perspectives on the public relations field. Membership is open to all interested students.
