Altomare graduates from University of Findlay

Louis Altomare of Orient has graduated from the University of Findlay. Altomare received a Bachelor of Science in Strength and Conditioning and an Associate of Arts in Personal Training.

Altomare was invited to walk in the University's commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 6. More than 1,100 graduates earned doctoral, master's, bachelor's or associate degrees for the academic year 2016-2017.


Locals named to Ashland University dean's list

The following local students have been named to the spring 2017 dean's list at Ashland University:

Jessica Clark of Ashville is majoring in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Scott and Lorianna Clark of Ashville and a 2011 graduate of Teays Valley High School.

Baylee Kuhlwein of Ashville is majoring in exercise science. Kuhlwein is a 2016 graduate of Teays Valley High School.

Rachel Traverse of Circleville is majoring in fashion merchandise. Traverse is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.

Tiffany Smolinski of Circleville is majoring in French, Spanish and psychology. Smolinski is a 2016 graduate of Logan Elm High School.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled full time at Ashland University and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.


Brown earns dean's list honors

The University of Mount Union has announced that Avery Brown of Commercial Point has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester.

Brown was one of 602 students named to the dean's list. To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours of traditionally graded coursework while achieving a grade point average of 3.550 or better with no letter grade below a B.


Orient student named to dean's list at CCU

Macailyn Maciel-Melendez of Orient, majoring in biology, was among 1,920 students at Coastal Carolina University who made the spring 2017 dean's list.

To qualify, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.


Adams earns graduate degree

Erick Joseph Adams of Ashville was among the more than 600 recipients of master's and doctoral degrees awarded at the University of Scranton's graduate commencement ceremony on May 27 in the Byron Recreation Complex.

Graduates recognized at the ceremony include those who completed their degree requirements in August and December of 2016, as well as January and May of 2017.

Adams earned a Master of Science degree in human resources from The University of Scranton.
