Laine Bulmer and Corie Hoselton of Circleville recently joined nearly 450 fellow Youngstown State University Honors College students volunteering at local organizations for the Global Day of Service.

An annual Honors College event since 2012, the Global Day of Service connects students who volunteer their time one weekend each fall with Youngstown and Mahoning Valley organizations and projects.

"This year, our students helped at homeless shelters, food banks, Youngstown clean-ups, inner city gardens and so much more," said Amy Cossentino, director of the Honors College at YSU. "I'm very proud of the service they are providing and the community they are building."
