CIRCLEVILLE - As of Friday, July 14th, 2017 the free, local, on-line news source 'Pickaway News Journal' has been purchased by Scioto Post LLC for an undisclosed amount. As part of the purchase, the Scioto Post has acquired all rights to content, intellectual property, and media systems relating to Pickaway County's foremost subscription-free news service.
"For months now, we've had a dream to connect community in a bigger way than what we could achieve by ourselves, and this is our first step toward that." said Jeremy Newman, Media and Sales Acquisition Partner for Scioto Post.
The Scioto Post is expected to keep the Pickaway News Journal on-line in its current format for no less than two months as content, commentators, and community are migrated to its new website, SciotoPost.com.
"Our goal is to herald in a new format for news and media within the county. We fully believe citizen-driven media, news and community engagement are the way forward in this industry, and the Pickaway News Journal is certainly the precedent for this move." said Jon Hogue, website architect for SciotoPost.com.
In addition to Pickaway News Journal's legendary reporting, formerly ran by Patricia Bennet, the Scioto Post aims to utilize next-generation video technology, data and marketing services, and live journalism to empower the citizens of Pickaway County to become better connected to the world around them.
"Increasing levels of technological sophistication have yet to be fully leveraged in local media and community efforts, and I'm excited to be part of the community we're developing with the community already created by the Pickaway News Journal." said Benjamin Schlichter, Ad Executive and Community Manager.
As of this release, www.SciotoPost.com and its initial iteration have been released to the public, and awaits feedback from the businesses, faith leaders, and the community at large.
